Teresa López-Fernández is a clinical investigator and senior consultant cardiologist at La Paz University Hospital in Madrid, Spain. Dr. López-Fernández specializes in cardio-oncology and cardiac imaging (she is board certified in advanced and transesophageal echocardiography by the European Society of Cardiology (ESC).

Dr. López-Fernández sets up and coordinates the cardio-oncology programme at La Paz University Hospital. Teresa co-chair the first ESC Guidelines on Cardio-oncology with Dr. Alexander Lyon. She is the founder and chair of the Spanish Cardio-Oncology Working Group at the Spanish Society of Cardiology (SEC). She serves also as Vicepresident for International Cardio-Oncology Society (ICOS) and she is the ESC council of cardio-oncology chair-elected. Dr. López-Fernández is also regularly invited to speak about cardio-oncology at both national and international conferences.

Her current research interests focus on cardiotoxicity diagnosis and preventive strategies. Dr. López-Fernández has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters.
